Was born in Almaata in 1970 and initiated into rock-climbing in 1984 by Salavat Rakhmetov. My first coach was V.A. Gorbunov, well known among rock-climbers as a good coach-theorist. I am much indebted to him for all the knowledge he gave me.

The main drive of my sports career was always the improving of the climbing style. Natural rock is my preference with artificial walls being a  necessity. Hard routes have been done in France and Italy, yet the Crimea is my main area.

Being too busy lately with a lot of competitions, I do not have super routes on my climbing record.

In the Crimea I have done all the routes over 6c and the only one 8c - "Matador".

In Europe I am known as a boulderer and I take part in all competitions in bouldering.

In 1996 I married Natasha Perlova, and, thanks to her family's sports traditions I could improve my climbing (Natasha's mother, Valentina Kurshakova, is a rock-climber well known in Ukraine and the former USSR).

I hope to stay long in rock-climbing competitions.
